Pay attention to punctuation and capital letters — they count in the exercise.

  • Wer Verantwortung zuschreibt, muss Zurechnungsfähigkeit klären.

    Anyone who ascribes responsibility must clarify imputability.

  • Leere Formeln: „Die Würde gebietet, dass …“ — gebietet was genau?

    Empty formulae: “Dignity requires that …” — requires what exactly?

  • Ich wende ein, dass Kostenfolgen moralische Ansprüche nicht auslöschen.

    I object that cost consequences do not erase moral claims.

  • Entgegnung: Ansprüche ohne Adressaten sind Appelle an den Nebel.

    Reply: claims without addressees are appeals to fog.

  • Anerkennen heißt nicht, jeden Wunsch zu erfüllen.

    To acknowledge is not to fulfil every wish.

  • Der Gebrauch von „Gerechtigkeit“ schwankt zwischen Fairness und Gleichheit.

    The use of “justice” oscillates between fairness and equality.
